about

MC3 are:
Matt Clark - guitar
Charlotte Keeffe - trumpet/flugelhorn
James Edmunds - drums

“The three are distinctly different in their styles of play but they interweave and engage in dialogues which make them sound like long-time associates who are comfortable together... "Autobiography of a Poet" …features sensitive group playing from all three players and reinforces the fact that this trio has its own unique sound which is highly recognisable." - John Eyles, All About Jazz

“This album is a real lift well suited to the times we are in post-pandemic. The sense of release, freedom and sheer joy in the music is palpable… It is also brave and experimental as if the boundaries have shifted somehow – anything is allowed, and as long as it makes sense – which this album does totally – it is okay... Good music, superb musicians – what more could you ask?” - Sammy Stein, Free Jazz Collective

Matt Clark’s previous releases have evoked a sense of space, of moving through a city, written and recorded with a feeling of wanting to escape during lockdown.

Sounds Of The City sees the trio engaging in a series of musical conversations, inspired by their own urban environments, and through sonic exploration; interweaving dialogues between three distinctive voices: guitar, trumpet and drums.

about

Matt Clark Three London, UK

“The overall effect creates a dynamic sonic quality, as if a laid-back street-level musical trio were performing their own structured and improvised material but also incorporating the ephemeral swell of sounds around them...”
